Air ceramic heaters with an open coil are known as dry heating elements. These heaters are made by placing a high resistance wire heating coil along grooves inside insulating cylinders or rectangular blocks of standard sizes.
The main applications of ceramic flat dry heating elements are in industrial deck ovens, confectionery ovens, and ovens used for baking bakery products. Cylindrical air heaters are used for heating gases and air in various hot blast ovens, as well as in bakeries.
Interestingly, cylindrical ceramic dry heating elements are commonly used for water and liquid heating. A dry heating element with a protective metal flask is placed directly into the liquid to transfer heat to the air inside the flask, without contacting the liquid itself. These types of dry heating elements are widely used in electroplating baths, water heaters, boilers, and industrial baths.
