Cartridge Heaters are typically inserted into drilled holes to heat platens and molds or used as liquid immersion heaters.
The shell of Cartridge heating elements is made of heat-resistant stainless steel or brass. The shell tube is soldered on one side, and the wire leads are placed on the other. A heating element made of high-resistance nickel-chromium wire is placed inside the shell on a heat-resistant ceramic core. Free-flowing magnesium dioxide powder acts as insulation in cartridge-type heaters.
